APPOINTMENT OF NEW BOARD MEMBERS

Theatr Brycheiniog is a registered charity and the primary performing arts provider in Powys hosting an ambitious programme of professional and community work.  Under the direction of our new Theatre Director, Eleri B Jones, we are embarking on an exciting new phase of development which includes a significant refurbishment programme and also a refocus on everything that we do.

Opened in April 1997, as the first wholly funded Lottery new build arts organisation in Britain, Theatr Brycheiniog houses a 477-seat auditorium, café & bar, gallery and rehearsal studio. We host visits by a wide variety of professional performers from across Wales and beyond.  We are also home to many vibrant community theatre, music and dance groups.  We have big ambitions to grow what we do while also deepening our resilience and addressing the many challenges which face organisations across the arts world.

A cornerstone of that work is led by members of our board of trustees.  We are a group of volunteers with a diverse range of backgrounds who come together to ensure the Theatr has strong and effective governance while also offering specialist support where needed to the Director and her Senior Management Team.  We have an agreed rotation of members who serve for a maximum of two terms of three years.  We are therefore always interested in hearing from potential new recruits who want to support the work of Theatr Brycheiniog and help it make a difference to the community it serves.

During 2024 we are seeking to recruit trustees who have substantial experience in the following fields:

Arts and venues management, legal and financial matters, buildings and facilities, Welsh language services.

Theatr Brycheiniog is especially keen to widen the diversity of its board and is therefore keen to hear from people who are under-represented in the leadership and oversight of arts organisations.

As well as contributing their time and expertise, Board members act as ambassadors in the wider community of Powys, as well as regionally and nationally.  We are looking to appoint committed individuals who will be able to contribute to the sustainable success of our organisation.

Board Member roles are unpaid voluntary positions. Travel expenses can be arranged.
