HYNT
Theatr Brycheiniog is proud to support the HYNT Scheme. Members of the scheme are able to bring a carer for free to most performances (excluding hires). HYNT believes that art and culture is for everyone and if you have an impairment or specific access requirement, going to see it should still be easy and accessible.
Register to join at hynt.co.uk. Free HYNT carer tickets are available by Box Office allocation when you present your card at point of booking, or quote your card number over the phone.
Relaxed performances
We have a number of shows that also perform 'Relaxed Performances'. These are adaptations of the show specifically designed for anyone who may find the typical theatre experience overwhelming or who would benefit from a more relaxed environment.
During a relaxed performance House Lights are left on low and strobe lighting may be removed. Loud noises or explosions are either taken out entirely or reduced. The audience is free to go in and out as needed and latecomer rules are relaxed. Making noise during the performance is not discouraged. There are additional staff members on hand to assist as required and the cast and crew has awareness training before the performance.
Chill-out areas are provided for anyone who may become overwhelmed by the performance. The house will open earlier to give everyone plenty of time to get to their seats.
Theatr Brycheiniog is a Dementia Friendly Organisation and respects the needs of neuro diverse individuals.
People with a learning or physical disability, autistic spectrum condition, or sensory or communication disorder are especially welcome.
DISABLED PARKING
We have a number of designated disabled parking bays available for disabled badge holders in our main car park, situated next to the theatre. Please note that parking badges must be displayed clearly.
Wheelchair and limited mobility access
We have level access to all public areas. There is a lift to all three levels, including the Gallery and the Theatre Bar with wheelchair accessible toilets on each floor. Spaces for wheelchair users are available in both the stalls and balcony areas (please contact Box Office to book as some aren’t available for online booking).
Assistance dogs
We welcome all assistance dogs. Some seating in our auditorium also allows extra space for your canine companion, please ask at Box Office for more information on which seats may be most suitable. Our ground floor cafe is also dog friendly and our staff keep the water bowl topped up with fresh water and dog treats behind the counter.
Visually or hearing impaired
We use closed captioning whenever possible. Some shows and events may also include BSL interpretation. Please visit the show listings on our website or in the brochure for more information. Theatr Brycheiniog has an infra-red induction loop system. Headsets are available from the Box Office on request.
THEATR WILDCATS
We are also proud to be home to Theatr Wildcats, an inclusive theatre company, where group members use drama, music, movement and dance as a way to get their voices heard.
"Theatr Wildcats is very lucky to call Theatr Brycheiniog our home. We are an inclusive drama company for adults with learning disabilities and we use drama, singing and movement to get our voices heard. We are part of the Brychieniog family, each member of staff supports and encourages our company members to fully access the Theatr, Cafe, shows and activities. In the last few years Theatr Brycheiniog and community shows have put on relaxed and BSL performances allowing more people to attend and enjoy. Wildcat company members have been able to access these shows for the first time comfortably and without prejudice. We look forward to working more with the Theatr to make it accessible to all as everyone should have the chance to experience all the Theatr has to offer." Roisin Mellerick, Theatr Wildcats.
