'Breeding Boxers on the Breadline'

In the deprived valleys of the 1930s, boxing was more than just a sport; it was a way out of poverty.  Merthyr-born Cuthbert Taylor, now seen as one of the best boxers of his generation, should have had the opportunity to fight for a British title, but was denied this chance because of the colour of his skin.

Multi-award winning Theatr na nÓg’s new show introduces your children to themes such as:

Life in working class valleys’ communities in the 1920s-40s Institutional racism, immigration and colonialism.

Be a part of our Autumn project and one of the many schools we work with to support the delivery of the Curriculum for Wales in a creative and fun way. This is our 35th year creating unique, high quality theatre for schools, currently in partnership with Swansea Museum, the National Waterfront Museum and Technocamps. Developing and supporting young people to be ethical, informed citizens of Wales and the World.

Live Screenings

We feel extremely lucky that we get to bring the best of theatre, ballet and opera to you, our wonderful audiences. Our live screenings are always so beautifully breath taking and often thought provoking too. We have been blessed with big names at an affordable price, you will get so wrapped up in the magic of the moment you will forget that it’s a screening… don’t just take our word for it, come and enjoy the best of theatre from the National Theatre in London shown right here in the comfort of Theatr B!

“National Theatre Live brings the best of British theatre to a cinema screen near you. We film our plays in front of a live theatre audience, but optimise everything for the big screen so it’s the next best thing to being there.

The actors on stage deliver their performances as they normally would any other night. But to make sure our audiences watching in cinema have the best seat in the house, we tailor the position of our cameras to capture each production and work closely with technical teams to make sure every element on stage such as lighting, hair and make-up look fantastic on the big screen.” - National Theatre Live
