Theatre has the power to transport us to new worlds and inspire us to dream big. At Theatr B! we're committed to bringing that magic to our community every day!

Theatr B! ROCKS!

Let’s talk about music, Theatr Brycheiniog is excited to announce a fantastic line-up of shows for the rest of the year. From music tributes to pop divas, jazz, and more, there is something for everyone at our theatre.

But first lets reflect on the last Young Music Promoters Gig Nights!

The Young Music Promoters Gig held on the 9th of June at Theatr Brycheiniog was an absolute blast! The event was organised by young people, for young people, and the line-up of bands did not disappoint. The house band for the night was Northern Ruins, a local band from Brecon that always puts on an energetic set. Their loyal fan base was out in full force, singing and dancing along to their catchy tunes.

Special guest Sorry Stacy, a Russian-Ukrainian electronic artist based in Cardiff, wowed the crowd with her unique blend of pop, downtempo and glitch sounds, along with personal and engaging lyricism. We also have the outstandingly EPIC Dactyl Terra, an incredible psychedelic rock band from South Wales, took the stage and effortlessly transported the audience into a groove that lasted for days.

Overall, the event was a perfect mix of music and fun for 12-18 year-olds. It was inspiring to see the level of talent and passion that young people can bring to the table, and we can't wait to see what they come up with next.

Don’t miss out on the Young Music Promoters School’s Out Celebration on Wednesday 19th July. The last gig night of the term sees Northern Ruins joined by indie singer Mari Mathias. The perfect way to start the Summer break!

Did you know we have a lovely little gift shop right here in Theatr B!? it's just full of local goods... come and see for yourself! We even sell a range of Young Music Promoters merch!

Stoplight on: Mari Mathias

Theatr Brycheiniog’s Young Music Promoters Gig Nights return on Friday 9th June and in a School’s Out Celebration on Wednesday 19th July.

Northern Ruins & Mari Mathias will ALL be playing on Wednesday 19th July, but who are Mari Mathias?

Mari Mathias is a young Welsh folk/indie singer-songwriter that brings a fresh contemporary sound to both traditional folk songs and original material. She was born and brought up in West Wales and has developed her musical style having played with various bands throughout her teenage years, gaining wide recognition in the Welsh music scene.

What inspires Welsh folk/indie singer-songwriter Mari Mathias?

“It all began when I found my Great-Grandfathers cassette tapes in the attic a few years ago. Sampling the tapes created a window into a significant place that no longer exists, but holds vast meaning. While writing this album, I wanted to re-connect to my roots and identity, living between two contrasting lifestyles. Since moving to Cardiff it felt it was very important to me to learn and understand the land I grew up with and the communities that have a deep rooted understanding of the landscape surrounding them, with folk tales and folk songs that connect to the rivers and rapids of the local area. Through this I have merged my music with the experiences with the contemporary lifestyle in Cardiff with the tradition approach of both music and traditions from home.”
