Reflections - Rocking Review
As we get to the end of the month it’s good to look back… once again we have had an overwhelming (in the best possible way) past few weeks. Although we said farewell to our Theatre Director, David, his hard work and dedication leave the team at Theatr B! inspired and thankful… but the show must go on!
We were left with the giggles after Alfie Moore took to our stage with Fair Cop Unleashed, star of his hit BBC Radio 4 comedy series, the crowd LOVED his humour and honestly. We recommend going to see him live if you get the opportunity!
Seren Stars were back on the stage with their ‘Anything Goes’ Showcase. Once again, it was amazing to have students from NPTC Group, Brecon Beacons College and Ysgol Penmaes working together in a theatre project to produce a dazzling performance on the theme of their favourite music, song and dance. We couldn’t stop smiling all day, we can’t wait for the next time they are back here in Theatr B!
We had a COOL night with adventure legend Kenton Cool with a sell out show! It’s always so wonderful to see our theatre packed, his talk left everyone inspired and on top of the world, the Speakers from The Edge series of talks are always outstanding and visually stunning.
The Young Music Promoters Gig held on the 9th of June at Theatr Brycheiniog was an absolute blast! The event was organised by young people, for young people, and the line-up of bands did not disappoint. The house band for the night was Northern Ruins, a local band from Brecon that always puts on an energetic set. Their loyal fan base was out in full force, singing and dancing along to their catchy tunes. Special guest Sorry Stacy, a Russian-Ukrainian electronic artist based in Cardiff, wowed the crowd with her unique blend of pop, downtempo and glitch sounds, along with personal and engaging lyricism. Dactyl Terra, an incredible psychedelic rock band from South Wales, took the stage and effortlessly transported the audience into a groove that lasted for days.
Overall, the event was a perfect mix of music and fun for 12-18 year-olds. It was inspiring to see the level of talent and passion that young people can bring to the table, and we can't wait to see what they come up with next.
Don’t miss out on the Young Music Promoters School’s Out Celebration on Wednesday 19th July. Entry costs £4/£5 and doors open at 6.30pm. (£5 entry includes a slice of pizza & free ticket into prize draw to win a fabulous, official Young Music Promoters hoodie). The last gig night of the term sees Northern Ruins joined by indie singer Mari Mathias. The perfect way to start the summer break!
The wolves came to the theatre along with Ballet Cymru for the amazing performance of Roald Dahl's Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs. The most popular storyteller in the world, Roald Dahl, set to music by outstanding composer Paul Patterson and danced by the incomparable Ballet Cymru. Audiences were dazzled with the intricateness of the production, from the costumes to the way the dancers moved their body in partnership with the music.
It was just outstanding to watch, our audiences were left entangled with curiosity, emotion and ore, all at once.
Our bar was also filled with creativity and ideas last week as we held Theatr B!’s Creative Catch up. It is always wonderful to see so many artists and makers use Theatr B! as their creative hub, we can’t wait to see where the future takes us as we introduce Art in The Bar, led by Ruth Lloyd.
