Theatr Brycheiniog excitedly embraces creative opportunities for young people in Brecon and the surrounding areas!

Would you like to promote and programme your own music shows at Theatr Brycheiniog? If so, WE NEED YOU!

If you, a friend, or family member is aged between 12 and 18, and are passionate about music, then why not join our new and lively Young Music Promoters Club, gig events by young people for young people!

It is important to remind ourselves of the fundamental principles of youth participation, which is about young people having a say and influencing change in decisions that affect their lives, organisations, and communities. Along with having fun and being creative and making new like-minded friends, Theatr Brycheiniog’s Young Music Promoters Club aims to give young people the skills, knowledge, and confidence to get involved in creative decision making and be part of an existing culture that values young people’s opinions and recognises contributions. Young people participating in inspiring, purposeful roles become empowered to share their invigorating views influencing real, visible, and tangible outcomes.

Technical, managerial work experience will also be gained, which is a highly beneficial opportunity as learning and practicing essential life skills is invaluable to today’s young people.

This is a paid role with Theatr Brycheiniog for you to work with us in supporting the creation of a series of nine events over twelve months.

Young Music Promoters Club is funded by Anthem Music Fund Wales through its Atsain fund. This is backed by investment from Youth Music and support from Anthem’s founding patrons and Welsh Government.

For individuals over 18, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Technical Apprentice. Theatr Brycheiniog is seeking a suitable candidate to take part in the Technical Apprentice scheme operated throughout Wales by the Wales Millennium Centre.

This scheme is intended to allow candidates to develop their existing skills in a real-world environment and prepare them for full time employment within the theatre and creative industry. It is operated in conjunction with Cardiff & Vale College, who will be the further education provider for the qualification side of the apprenticeship – a Level 3 Certificate in Technical Theatre: Sound, Light and Stage.

The successful candidate will be based at Theatr Brycheiniog but employed by the Wales Millennium Centre, where they will enable the successful candidate to train and develop skills in technical theatre production, such as sound, lighting, and technical stage management.

Please note that interviews will be held at Theatr Brycheiniog, not the Wales Millennium Centre.

Successful applicants will be offered a full-time (35-hours) 12-month fixed term contract. The working hours of a Theatr Technician vary from week-to-week, it really depends on the demands of the production they are working on. Please note that technicians frequently work late into the evening for get outs (productions packing up and leaving).

Anyone over 18 years old can apply, all we ask is that you have a good attitude, live within a reasonable distance of participating venues and are ready to start an exciting career in technical theatre!

*This programme is unfortunately unsuitable for anyone still studying, so if you are part way through a course and would need to return to studying after the apprenticeship, you are not eligible. This opportunity also cannot be undertaken as a work placement as part of your course.

For the full job description and to find out more about the Technical Apprentice Role please contact Theatr Brycheiniog on 01874 611 622 or email jobs@brycheiniog.co.uk
