Spotlight on: National Theatre Wales, Feral Monster
February 19, 2024
Feral Monster follows Jax and her noisy, opinionated brain as they navigate love, identity, class and family. Mashing up grime, R&B, soul, pop and rap, the soundtrack takes us from the high highs to low lows of the hormonal rollercoaster of adolescence.

Reflections

We have had a truly wonderful couple of weeks here at Theatr B! September was very kind to us, it was filled with all the beauty of late Summer and early Autumn, the warmth of the sunshine and the enchantment of creativity touched our theatre inside and out as our community came together once again and made some magic. September was packed with so much diversity and fun!

Let's start by applauding our talented and keen Young Music Promoters Club. On the 8th, they curated a sensational gig night for all, showcasing musicians from this year's youth events. It was a night filled with infectious energy and remarkable talent that left us all in awe. Keeping on the theme of music we were also thrilled to welcome back the BBC National Orchestra & Chorus of Wales, led by the brilliant conductor Nil Venditti, on the 15th. Their performance was nothing short of extraordinary, leaving us captivated and inspired.

Another highlight was Hazel Findlay's breathtaking talk, "The Walls Within," presented by Speakers From The Edge on September 19th. Her words resonated deeply, reminding us of the power of perseverance and the importance of self-belief. We love inspirational women here at Theatr B! We were delighted to have the Welsh language adaptation of the hit show "Fleabag" on the 20th, did you catch it? It was a night of laughter, wit, and unforgettable moments that left us wanting more.

Drew's Concert on the 23rd was truly a journey of love. Through music, song, dance, and laughter, we celebrated the memory of Drew Barker-Wright. The evening touched the hearts of everyone in attendance. It was so amazing to see members of our community come together for such an important cause.  On the 27th, Graffiti Classics, the comedy string quartet, brought their unique and hilarious take on classical music. With 16 strings, 8 dancing feet, and 4 voices, they left us in stitches and inspired a newfound appreciation for the genre.

We would also like to thank everyone who attended our Macmillan Coffee Morning on Friday the 29th, not only was it delicious but we raised £196.42. Finally, Jive Talkin' on the 30th took us on a nostalgic journey with their impeccable tribute to the Bee Gees. Their performance was so spot-on, it felt as if we were transported back in time, dancing the night away, and it was a SELL OUT!

We would like to thank everyone who came to the exhibition opening last Wednesday to view all the lovely artwork, it was truly lovely to see our gallery filled with such fantastic colours and imaginative images. If you missed this event, you can still view the work displayed in our gallery.

WOW, what an amazing few weeks we have had! Thank you all for being a part of Theatr Brycheiniog's incredible journey. Your presence and support make Theatr Brycheiniog a truly special place. We cannot wait to continue sharing more unforgettable moments with you.
