Hello April!
Hello April! It’s lovely to see you, spring looks stunning on Theatr B! doesn't it? Before we tell you about ALL the amazingness April has to offer let's reflect on the marvellous March we had here at Theatr B!
But first, look at how STUNNING our Theatr B! looks in the Spring sunshine!
Overall, March has been an amazing month filled with wonderful events and talented individuals… to many to mention! Some highlights were our Young Music Promoter event, WOW it was an awesome night! A massive thank you to our house band Northern Ruins and special guest SageTodz for such a great gig! How about the incredible talent showcased in Gwernyfed High School's Grease production - AMAZING. The fantastic Life of Pi streamed from the National Theatre Live, inspired all the FEELS. Never a dull moment. We have been so lucky with the marvellous shows we have put on in March! All the various community groups and classes, including baby B! Uplift Singing Sessions and Taiko taster sessions have added to the richness of the month. It truly was a month to remember and we can't wait to see what April brings!
NOW, lets talk about our amazing community! As the month of April rolls in, Theatr B! is thrilled to announce its exciting line-up of events and activities for the month. We are packed with awesome community groups, workshops and performances. From singing sessions with Tanya Walker to Adult Taiko taster workshops. There's something for everyone to enjoy.
Uplift Singing Sessions, led by Tanya Walker, Alive & Kicking Choir Leader, and Vocal Coach, offer a much-needed break from the hustle and bustle of life, injecting your week with a healthy dose of wellbeing through community singing. Join us on a Tuesday lunchtime in a relaxed and friendly environment... and don't forget to pop into our cafe after for a coffee!
Baby B!, our fantastic parent and child activity group, offers an interactive and inclusive story time that introduces children to the joys of theatre from an early age. It's a must-attend event for parents looking to bond with their children while fostering their creativity and imagination.
Why not join us for Adult Taiko taster workshops which are perfect for those who want to make some noise and have fun playing Japanese Taiko drums. Whilst at the same time learning something about Japanese heritage. Suitable for adults, the workshop will leave you feeling energised and uplifted by the rhythms and body movements of Taiko.
Keep making noise… Brecon Town Concert Band invites you to come and meet the band in a relaxed performance, where you can bring your own instrument and join in. Aimed at all ages, the performance will include Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf and an opportunity to try some of the band's instruments after the show.
Theatr Wildcats, an inclusive theatre group for adults with learning differences, returns with "How To Be Happy." Using a mixture of movement, drama, song, and film, the Wildcats explore the true meaning of happiness and inclusivity. It's an event you don't want to miss.
With so much to look forward to, Theatr B! promises to make your April an exciting and unforgettable month.
We had such a cracking Gig on Friday, thank you Northen Ruins once again for rocking our stage! We were also thrilled to have Welsh Drill Rapper SAGE TODZ on our stage! We were blown away by the amazing range of Sage’s talent and his catchy bilingual songs. We are still singing Deg i Deg!
Check out these awesome photos from an amazing event!
We ask our house band Northen Ruins a few question, check out their replies;
"We have at the very front, Mr Adam Thorn on Lead Vocals and Rhythm Guitar, Carrying on in his fathers footsteps in the local music scene. Adam has his eyes set on releasing his own music in the short future. To his stage right we have Owain Crockett on Lead guitar and Backing vox, Just like the frontman, Ow has written his own material and has aspirations of releasing more music. To the far side of stage we have father figure and PA extraordinaire, Neal Crockett on Bass Guitar and you guessed it..the old man to Ow. Hang on...there's a theme going on here! Until, at the back of the ramblers we have Local drum Tutor, Jonny Davies, the only non-related family member with the band!"
"This is the 6th year Northern Ruins has been going, and it has been incredible to see how we started to where we are now in the local scene. We feel incredibly grateful to Theatre Brycheiniog for this opportunity of "House band" and to meet all the great up-coming talent Wales has to offer. Amongst this opportunity is the main focus of inspiring the next young Muso's in Brecon and to show them how live music works and to experience real gigs after the Pandemic."
"Our Favourite songs are; Blinding Lights, Yellow, She sells Sanctuary, Sugar we're going down (my niece will be happy), Black or White, First Dates (Jonny's choice), Sweet Child o' mine (Ow's), American Idiot - these are top 8 to play"
"We are super excited to not only play in the venue of the Theatre, but to hopefully inspire new musicians locally to take up an instrument and begin their own bands or projects, with potential to write their own music. Meeting new artists from around Wales will be extra special to us, the music industry is certainly the best for discovering new and meeting new people!"
...Wow amazing guys thank you!
