Brecon Town Council to help visitors to spend a penny at Theatr Brycheiniog

In order to keep services up to meeting demand, Brecon Town Council has agreed to budget for increased financial support for Theatr Brycheiniog to help improve their toilet facilities next year, as part of a wider refurbishment project planned by the theatre for 2022 and beyond.

As well as providing the perfect venue for community arts and high quality entertainment, Theatr Brycheiniog is also a popular location for locals and visitors to call in and use the amenities. Cllr Chris Walsh, Chair of the Finance and Commissioning of Contracts Committee said “Brecon Town Council recognises the importance of these toilet facilities to the local community,  businesses, visitors  and tourists and we are delighted to offer the theatre some additional support to modernise the toilets.”

Since being built in 1996 the popular arts venue is now showing inevitable signs of wear and tear. However, the building is currently undergoing significant interior changes as it embarks on a major refurbishment project. Visitors to Theatr Brycheiniog are being asked to be patient as these changes take place. Cllr John Powell, Mayor of Brecon said “ We look forward to seeing the results of the planned refurbishment project from our continuing partnership with Theatr Brycheiniog.”

David Wilson, Director at Theatr Brycheiniog added “We are looking forward to this progressing onto the next stage of our refurbishment plan and are excited to see our building continue to improve year on year. We are grateful to Brecon Town Council for their contribution to this redevelopment, as well their ongoing support and proud to have such a positive working relationship which brings so many benefits to the people of Brecon and beyond.”

Theatr Brycheiniog recently also took part in Brecon Town Council’s Busking pilot which has been deemed a huge success with lots of positive feedback and is due to return in Spring 2022.
