venue update from theatr brycheiniog
We have received so many messages of support and we know that our audiences and visitors think of us fondly, so we are hopeful, whilst careful, with how we develop plans and ways of working. With so much changing we thought it important to lay out our short and long-term plans. The front page of our website will have the latest information on what and when we will be open.
We are currently working hard behind the scenes to maintain the building’s safety so that we can open aspects of what we do.
So far we have:
- Hosted the professional dance team for Brecon Festival Ballet, who were allowed an approved rehearsal week in Augist 2020
- Re-opened a level of café service also in August and continued when allowed throughout the autumn
- Provided much needed access to toilet facilities in line with our opening times for the café service
- Facilitated many resuming classes and safe activities with our community Companies and members
For Spring 2021 we hope to get back to much more when safe and appropriate to do so.
We will also be announcing new developments and changes to our operation, please look out for these. We will also announce, alongside the reduction in tier measures when we can safely reopen areas of the building and activities.
PERFORMANCES, AUDITORIUM AND BOX OFFICE
We value every audience member and appreciate your patience during these difficult times. However, we will need you to bear with us now through these new restrictions and whilst our staff continue to be furloughed.
We still do not have the necessary clarity from the authorities with regard to when we might resume a programme that may allow audiences, with or without social distancing in place.
We have also canvassed you by providing surveys via the national Indigo and Arts Council Wales questionnaires. It is clear that there will be little to no demand to return to indoor performances whilst there is so much uncertainty over the pandemic. To open the theatre or Box Office without understanding when an audience may be allowable or probable is not economically viable and financially impossible.
When our Box Office reopens it will be with minimal staffing and we expect a high volume of enquiries. Please be reassured that our tickets will automatically be valid for the new date (with the same seats) and of course, if for any reason you cannot make it, then a refund will be due.
However, these are extreme circumstances and when our box office reopens, if a large percentage of our audiences require a refund, this will either take us a long time to service or plunge us into further financial difficulty.
If you do require a refund, please provide all your details to the Box Office when this becomes possible. All refunds will be internally escalated to our Finance Team who will then process your refund as soon as possible. Please be aware that our Finance team will also be unfurloughed gradually and restricted working hours may be in place for all our staff.
We do ask at this difficult time if you might consider donating the costs of your tickets to Theatr Brycheiniog if you do not intend on resuming your attendance or perhaps consider one of the other ways to demonstrate support for the Theatr and the work that we do. Your support is invaluable and will allow us to continue, to make this as simple as possible we have laid out four ways in which you can help right now.
