News from Theatr Brycheiniog
Michael Morpurgo’s King Arthur - Book Tickets Here!
So who have we got on?
Little Wander, the people behind Green Man Festival Comedy and Macynthleth Comedy Festival, stormed Theatr Brycheiniog in 2016 with a monthly comedy club of epic proportions. Josh Widdicombe’s brother Henry booked the best and the Friday night gathering were all sell-outs. For the Spring Season he’s promised us Colin Hoult, Ignacio Lopez, Pierre Novellie, Liam Williams, Lou Sanders, George LewisChris Kent, Amir Khosokhan, Angela Barnes, John Kearns, Matt Rees and Edd Hedges. Not all on the same night of course. That would be ridiculous. Wow, Brecon – the new hub of British comedy.
It’s not all observational comedy and local paper put downs. We do have a heavier, more intellectual aspect to our programming. This spring will witness visitations from Mid Wales Opera and their production of Handel’s Semele, Omidaze’s Romeo and Juliet, The National Dance Company of Wales’ Profundis/The Green House and Light, Ladd & Emberton’s Caitlin – a dance piece about Dylan Thomas’ wife Caitlin, set in an AA meeting.
New for 2017, Theatr Brycheiniog launches the Brecon Beacons Extreme Festival. This event in March will feature the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour (the best in extreme sports short films), National Adventurer Of The Year Ash Dykes and in the initiation of the Wales Extreme Film Prize – a competition for young filmmakers from around the world.
We are however, an Arts Centre for the whole community, so children and families are looked after – So You Think You Know About Dinosaurs, Meet Fred, Michael Morpugo’s King Arthur, Don’t Dribble On The Dragon, The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
For our adult audience we have – Legends Of American Country, the 20th Rorke’s Drift Annual Concert, The Sir John Lloyd Memorial Lecture, Max Boyce. And next season we have 8 Out Of 10 Cats’ Rob Beckett and Strictly’s Pasha Kovalev take to the stage.
Hungry? Thirsty? We have you covered!
